THIS PAST YEAR. BE THANKFUL FOR WHERE IT BROUGHT YOU. WHERE YOU ARE IS WHERE YOU’RE MEANT TO BE.
This meme above was posted by Elephant Journal at the end of the December. It resonated with me so much. For those of you who come to the Belmont location for classes, you may have noticed the new (bathroom) signage and some distance from the management and other tenant. It has always been tough for OmB at this location.
FINDING THE RIGHT LOCATION HAS BEEN DIFFICULT
When I started offering classes during the day thru OmB, it was to satisfy the need for mamas to enjoy time with their bebes and for those mamas that have a different work schedule and are able to come to daytime prenatal classes. I’ve moved from Oak Cliff (a church location) to behind an upscale children’s boutique to Snider Plaza and now Belmont. I’m at the point of throwing in the towel. Not because the need has diminished, but more because…..
The need for daytime classes is still there. But there needs to be a bigger studio to promote it. And that is the rub. Most studios do not want to have our population as a part of their community. I’ve talked to Sync in Oak Cliff. Jen is excited and I feel like there may be an opportunity there. I’m also preparing my home studio to be an option too!
Here is what has happened at our current location…
Belmont location is not a good fit for OmBalance. From the beginning, before we officially opened the doors, the management referred to my business as a daycare. It was not enough that I asked them to really be sure about allowing me in – before signing the lease. The “Be Quiet” signs, the bathroom signs (we were blamed for the toilet issues even though I assured them that pregnant women & most breastfeeding women don’t use tampons), the inappropriate marketing poster in the hall and constant badgering about anything & everything. I GIVE UP!
To me you are all “ELITE” clientele and that is the usual comment made about honoring the other tenant – OmBalance needs to be considerate of the other tenants elite clientele. Most of time we don’t see anyone across the hall. But since OmBalance has people coming in and out through the doors all week, anything that goes the slightest bit wrong is blamed on OmB.
A change is coming. To the schedule. A new location. Maybe other changes…
At the beginning of December I gave four months notice. I am hoping to be out of the Belmont location before the end of March. I will keep you all apprised. Please do not purchase multi-class packages – unless Oak Cliff works for you as a location.
